1. Drink water throughout the day. Most of us don’t get the amount of water we should. There are so many health benefits to drinking water. One important fact that many people do not know is, water speeds up your metabolism which helps you burn fat throughout the day. Men should consume 4 litres and women should consume 2 litres of water per day.

2. Don’t skip breakfast. 
Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. We are doing exactly what the name says, breaking a fast. Our metabolism comes to a screeching halt without having food in our bodies for 6-8 hours, depending on how long you sleep. The first thing you should do when you wake up is get that metabolism burning again. You will also have more energy and feel better about yourself.

3. Get plenty of sunlight in the summer… 
Sunlight, and the vitamin D this can make in the skin, is associated with a wide spectrum of benefits for the body including a reduced risk of several forms of cancer, heart disease, multiple sclerosis and osteoporosis, as well as improved immune function. As a rule of thumb, vitamin D is made when our shadow is shorter than our body length, ie when the sun is high in the sky. While burning is to be avoided, get as much sunlight exposure as possible for optimal health.

4 Make Healthy Choices
Don’t be tempted to keep too much snacks food in your home because doing this will encourage you to eat them more when you’re emotional. This is because they will make you feel happy. It is advisable to keep healthy snack foods available in your home. If you feel that you needed something to eat, go for fresh fruits and vegetable or even fibre food or whole grain cracker. Never you go for those sugary processed food in the name of SNACKS

5. Get enough Sleep 
Sleep has the ability to optimise mental and physical energy, and optimal levels of sleep (about eight hours a night) are linked with reduced risk of chronic disease and improved longevity. One simple strategy that can help ensure you get optimal amounts of sleep is to go to bed earlier. Getting into bed by 10pm or 10.30pm is a potentially useful investment in terms of your short- and long-term health and wellbeing. Shutting down the computer or turning off the TV early in the evening is often all it takes to create the time and space for earlier sleep.

6.  Make small adjustments to your diet
. Don’t make drastic changes all at once. Ease into a healthier lifestyle. Taking small steps is the best way to go about it. A couple examples would be, change white bread to whole wheat and drink low fat milk instead of milk with higher fat content. If you make little adjustments it will be easier in the long run.

7. Eat small balanced meals through the day. I’m sure you’ve heard this one a thousand times. This one is all about metabolism. We can’t lift weights or do cardio all day long, but we can keep our metabolism burning. We do this by eating balanced meals every few hours. Eating well balanced meals will prevent you from snacking on unhealthy foods and keep you burning fat when you aren’t being active.
8 Set Goals. Set yourself one large goal, and then break down this goal into smaller reachable goals. This is a process. Take small steps towards each goal on your way to the top of your mountain. Focus on the smaller steps and before you know it you’ll be standing at the top looking down.

9. Reflect on What Matters
Things only become a distraction if you let them.  Find ways to refocus and unclutter your mind by using meditation or other relaxation techniques. Get rid of the distractions that keep you stuck with the past and outdated perspectives: cluttering possessions, negative self talk, and self-destructive habits like spending time with people who drain your energy.  To protect your emotional health, eliminate any activities that you can that are no longer rewarding.
Become aware of what values you hold and begin to discern a vision for your life mission.  As you consider the activities and responsibilities that you have to complete, ask yourself if these tasks are aligned with your emerging sense of purpose.  Delegate those activities that someone else can handle and keep only those things that you have to do.
