Eat fruit and vegetables
Get in the habit of including fruits and vegetables in your diet for a rich daily dose of vitamins via your food. You’ll soon see and feel the benefits of a diet rich in fresh fruits and veggies packed with nutrients and anti-oxidants.

Go organic
When it comes to your fruits, veggies, meat and dairy, organic is generally the best choice you can make. Yes it’s a bit more expensive, but the health benefits are life-changing. It makes me feel good knowing I’m helping the person out, BUT more often than not they are helping me more. I see my strength increasing, my endurance extending.

Pick a realistic lifestyle: 
Don’t choose a diet that will fade as your enthusiasm does or one full of foods that don’t sound good to you. Pick something that you can do for the rest of your life. An attempt at making a permanent change will be more successful with long-term solutions you can see yourself sticking with.

Eat moderate portions. 
If you keep portion sizes reasonable, it's easier to eat the foods you want and stay healthy. Did you know the recommended serving of cooked meat is 3 ounces, similar in size to a deck of playing cards? A medium piece of fruit is 1 serving and a cup of pasta equals 2 servings. A pint of ice cream contains 4 servings. Refer to the Food Guide Pyramid for information on recommended serving sizes.

Eat regular meals.
Skipping meals can lead to out-of-control hunger, often resulting in overeating. When you're very hungry, it's also tempting to forget about good nutrition. Snacking between meals can help curb hunger, but don't eat so much that your snack becomes an entire meal.
 

Sleep well
Most people require 6 to 8 hours of sleep per night to function at their best. Don’t cheat your body out of the chance to perform at its optimum level. Sleep allows your body to restore and heal itself.

Floss
Taking care of your teeth is an extremely important health habit. Most people know to brush once or twice daily, but did you know that flossing is even more imperative in preventing cavities? Floss twice per day to keep teeth at the optimum health.

Relax
Take an hour or more per day to put aside work and stressors, and just relax. This is a major health benefit and will actually help restore your body and keep sickness at bay.

Connect
Connection with other people is very healing, and something that many people put aside in order to check things off their to do list. Meet up with a good friend for coffee, make dinner with your family, or just make time to connect with those you love.
